Ode to the Old Town Hall Building...

Posted by alicia kersebet on

As many of you may or may not know, our lovely old town hall building is under contract and will be sold by the end of summer.
Joel and I purchased this building from Ron Hubbard in April of 1999. We uncovered a beautiful wainscoting ceiling and wall coverings, painted the walls, added some shelving units and my Dad helped us refinish the wood floors. By June 1st that year we had taken my parents (Nancy and Marty Drury's) Door County's Ecology Sports and opened it up in our new home. Our son Sam was about to enter kindergarten. In 2002, our daughter Stella arrived on Memorial Day to give the high season a little competition for our attention. By 2005 our Base Camp Coffee Bar was added to complete our vision for the lower level.
We have so  many good memories that took place in this building. Our annual Open House, a wedding reception for a friend, an 80th birthday party complete with dancing, Small Forest's annual Christmas concert and of course the day to day interaction with all of you who have watched our children and our businesses grow within these walls. Both Joel and I have spent many hours in this space preparing for the day or the next. It has been a labor of love...we feel thankful to have been given the opportunity to work and make a living in this beautiful community that we call home.
Now after 21 years we are ready to focus on our downtown Sister Bay property. We have missed sharing our energy together in one place and look forward to creating a new space for Joel's offerings. We will keep you posted on the plan as we figure it out! Meanwhile, if you can't wait and need any coffee or tea we will have Base Camp Blend available for purchase at Ecology or online at basecampdoorcounty.
Until then, "a bientot"and "merci" for all the great memories you have help us create.
Alicia & Joel and all the team at Ecology and Base Camp.
